National Lotteries Authority on board for London 2012

  Minister of Youth Empowerment and Sports, Minister Patrick Simmons officially handed over a $50,000 cheque to the Grenada Olympic Committee in support of the Grenada’s elite athletes participating in the 2012 London Olympic Games.
In the handover ceremony held at the National Stadium, the Sports Minister said, “We are quite pleased to support the GOC’s drive to raise funds through sponsorship.” He went to add that, “That Lotto was elated to contribute towards Grenada’s participation in the Olympic Games.” He commended the GOC for its outstanding work in promoting the talents of local athletes and added that the ongoing publicity along with the generosity of corporate sponsorship will only strengthen Team Grenada in its quest for medals at the Olympic Games.
In June 2011, the Grenada Olympic Committee launched its “The Road to London 2012” campaign to solicit funds for the Grenada team to participate in the games.
General Manager of the National Lotteries Authority, Mr. Ronnie Sylvester commented that Lotto in its mandate to supports Sports, Culture and Nation building, stands ready to assist in whatever way possible to ensure that Grenada receives its first Olympic medal. He applauded the GOC in its efforts to get the best quality training available to our athletes to ensure the highest level of competition”.

In accepting the cheque of $50,000 President of the GOC, Royston  La Hee said, “It’s a great pleasure to be on the receiving end of this handsome donation and we promise to put it to good use,” adding that the GOC is proud of its “high calibre of athletes.”
