KARATE MASTER PAID CALL TO GRENADA

Karate Master paid call to Grenada

One of the highlights of his visit was a courtesy meeting with the President of the Grenada Olympic Committee, Mr. Royston La Hee, during which a number of matters pertaining to the sporting aspect of karate was discussed.  It is a well-known fact that sport karate is a topic of much discussion for its inclusion as a competitive discipline in the 2020 Olympics which will be held in Japan.

Ms. Claudette Joseph, Chief Instructor of the Grenada Shotokan Karate Association (GSKA) which is the IKD member organisation on island, was happy to welcome Mr. Woon A Tai to Grenada.

“We were very pleased to welcome Master to our island, his third stop on his Caribbean Tour.  I am also happy to note that Mr. Woon A Tai commented most favourably on the improvement in the standard of our karate  practitioners in Grenada within recent years. During Monday’s examinations, a number of students received high commendation for their performance and several were promoted to advanced ranking.  Grenada’s examinees achieved a 100% pass rate.”

Last Sunday, a national tournament was held which served to highlight the tremendous progress of the students. Competition was stiff and excitement was rife. The competition was divided into the youth and adult Kata and Kumite divisions.
